Our commitment to this principle limits rentals to only a few weeks per season... ensuring that each guest experiences a natural setting with a limited ecological footprint.

Property details: 650 acre property (2.1 km along Trans Canada Trail x 1.2 km), mostly hilly granite with hardwoods and white pine, 1 ½ km. private lake, river, ponds, trails, lodge.

Access: via 2 km. improved bush road, 4 or All WD vehicles recommended. Assistance with move in will be provided upon request, at an additional fee.

Convenient location: approx. 220 kms. east of Toronto or west of Ottawa. 50 kms. north of the City of Belleville and full amenities including movie theatres, Quinte Shopping Mall and Belleville General Hospital. 15 kms. north east of the Village of Tweed with basic amenities: groceries, liquor/beer, drug store, “Poplars” 18 hole golf course. Day trip distance to Kingston, Gananoque and Thousand Islands.

Lodge details: 1,900 sf. building. Main floor: completely outfitted kitchen, propane stove, sink with hot/cold running water, dining area seats 10 - 12, living room with 2 couches and 5 sofa chairs, wood burning stove, grocery storage room with fridge, gear storage room with freezer, bathroom with sink and shower, screened-in porch for outdoor meals or brandy and a cigar at sunset, and deck overlooking lake. Second floor: 3 bedrooms, sleeps 12 comfortably in individual, bunk-style beds (8 single beds, 4 double beds), and also balcony.

Electricity: provided by generator.

Toilet facilities: 2 outdoor privees (outhouses).

Further information:

  • not well suited for infants or early toddlers
  • pets can roam free and will not encounter neighbours
  • linens to be provided by guest
  • waterfront consists of a dock and deck with drop-off into deeper water
  • Bell cellular reception is good and is the best of all alternatives

Highlights of the season

  • Spring (March to May): awaken... watch the forest unfold as flora and fauna emerge from their winter respite... good time for hiking.
  • Summer (June to August): enjoy Lost Lake... swimming, snorkeling, fishing, canoeing, evening campfires
  • Fall (September to November): colours... art, explore deep into the forest as cooler weather prevails... best time for hiking.
  • Winter (December to February): cozy around the woodstove after day-long skating, hiking, ATV'ing or snowmobiling

Area activities

Direct access to Trans Canada Trail… a 21,500 kilometre (70%developed) recreational trail winding its way through every province and territory, from the Atlantic to Pacific to Arctic Oceans. When completed, it will be the world's longest recreational trail, linking close to 1,000 communities and over 33 million Canadians. Thousands of people are taking to the Trail to walk, hike, cycle, ski, horseback ride, canoe and snowmobile.

Waterfall, 8 acre field for rocketry, kite flying etc. when not in-crops, boardwalk / walking bridge to Cranberry marsh and Pot Hole lake, high-spots for scenic views of the country-side, flora and fauna galore, use of 3 aluminum boats (1 with motor) and 1 canoe, hiking throughout property along trails or 'as the crow flies', deep water swimming and snorkeling (no sandy beach).

  • IN - Friday after 5 pm. OUT - Sunday (or Monday if long weekend) before 5:00 pm

  • IN - Saturday after 12 noon. OUT - Saturday before 12 noon

Driving Directions

From Toronto: Take Hwy 401 east to second exit for Belleville - Hwy 37. Take Hwy 37 north approx. 37 kms to Tweed. Tweed has Valumart, IDA Drug Store, Dollar Store, Liquor store, Beer Store, Mac's gas station with convenience store, Subway Sandwich restaurant, etc. Continue through Tweed until you reach Tim Horton's restaurant (convenient place for meeting owner). Next intersection past Tim's, on your right, is Sulphide Rd. Proceed north along Sulphide Rd. for approx 10 kms. where pavement ends and gravel road begins. Proceed along gravel road for approx. 1 km where it intersects Trand Canada Trail. Proceed left along Trail for approx. 250 m. where you will see "Green Gate" on your left. Nearest 911 address is 2197 Sulphide Rd. Enter through "Green Gate" and proceed along 2 km. bush road to Lodge. 4 wheel drive, all wheel drive, pick-up or other vehicle with high clearance is recommended.

$2,100 per week, any season, up to 8 guests.

$2,210 per holiday week, any season up to 8 guests.

$640 for regular 2 day weekend, any season up to 8 guests.

$1,050 for hoilday long weekend, any season up to 8 guests.

Add 30% to each of the above rates for additional guests, up to and including 12 in total.
